Supplementary School
The Supplementary School is organised and run by the S K S Swaminarayan Community Centre.
The Supplementary School runs from 9.30am to 11.30am every Saturday and is open for children as young as 6 up to youngsters studying for A-levels. The School is organised into six separate classes by age groups.
The teachers, all of whom are graduates and some are even professional teachers, help children with their school work and place particular importance on numeracy (mathematics) and verbal and written reasoning (English).
A dedicated class for Year 10 and 11 GCSE students prepares students for Mathematics and English (Language and Literature) exams. Students from our community perform well at Mathematics so this ability is further strengthened. However, English is traditionally a weaker, but equally important subject. Students are therefore taught the essentials to attaining the highest grade possible in GCSE English. Grades have been as high as A* for both English and Mathematics.
For students who have completed their GCSEs and have progressed to studying A-level Mathematics, a dedicated class is taught by a an experienced teacher with a masters in mathematics. This includes various modules of the Mathematics A-level such as Mechanics, Statistics and core Pure Mathematics concepts such Calculus, Algebra and Geometry.
Students are also regularly advised on careers, University applications and A-level / IB subject selection.
