Swaminarayan Temple Woolwich has embarked on an ambitious project of redeveloping its current site to construct a larger, magnificent new shikhar-badh Mandir to house Balswaroop Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj.

The satsang in Woolwich began some 30 years ago by Hindu migrants from India and Kenya. Satsang sabhas were initially held at the homes of devotees and later in community halls as the congregation grew and developed. A permanent site, where the Temple currently stands, was eventually procured and renovated for inauguration in August 1988.

With the blessings of the Almighty Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan, Pujya Acharya Maharajshree, Mahant Swami and Santo, the redevelopment is expected to be complete in 2017. The Nutan Mandir will be a landmark in South East London and Kent areas and will be a testament to the Swaminarayan Sampraday in the UK.

The Mandir will boast state-of-the-art facilities which will provide an enhanced experience for the local community and devotees alike. With extra classrooms for Supplementary School, Gujarati Shaala and Music Classes as well as providing services for the elderly and child care, the Mandir looks to become a central pillar for South East London and Kent.

Due to the demands of successfully completing this project, several ‘work-streams’ have been created. These include teams working on and managing the following:
